At the risk of sounding stupid I'm going to ask anyway .... are the rings the same on stock pistons as the ones on Yamaha's HC pistons.
This just be the dumb question of the day

That's a good question, but I would bet the rings are the same, I've had some experience building car engines, and rings are pretty much all the same..They just have to fit...that's where the challenge lies...

OK I found out that its no the part number for the Yamaha HC pistons is SPD-4WM09-60-14

Well maybe no and maybe yes ... in some cases Yamaha uses different part numbers for identical parts.
