Well, my little 600 - 700 mile round trip ride up to Arkansas this week is off the calendar. Got up yesterday morning with the intent of saddling up the roadie and heading up the Interstate. The wife asked me if I could take down a couple of limbs from one of the trees in the front yard. Yeah, you can see where this is going. Got the first limb off just fine. Then extended the old ladder and stepped up for the next one. Ladder started to wobble a bit and I thought "man, this is stupid." Took one step back down the ladder and it flipped over on me. Suddenly the world is moving in slow motion as I look down and think, "Man, I'm higher than I thought I was. This is gonna hurt." It did. Knew the foot was broken as soon as I hit the ground. Rolled around and got to my feet, picked up the chainsaw and hobbled back to the house. Off to the doctor for the confirmation. Yeah, it's broke. No, I can't do anything for it. Go see the orthopedic guy. Sooo, next step is to see if they want to cast it, put a screw in it, or what. No way I can support the bike on my right foot if I need to, so I guess I'm done riding for a month or so. Sucks to be me.

And you were holding a chainsaw when this happened? You are SOOOOOOO lucky, it could have been even worse.

Yeah, having tangled with a chainsaw once in the past I know they can be bad dogs. I got rid of it pretty quick on the way down and I guess the brake kicked in and killed the engine. Still, kind of scary.
