Speaking of keys.....

There is a myth floating around that the printed number/letters under the key cover of your gas tank is the key code for your bike. At least for me, that wasn't true. So, if you're depending on that being the number you can provide to a dealer to cut you a new key, you may be expensively disappointed.

However, you can use a solvent (I used lacquer thinner) to wipe off that number that is printed there and use a sharpie marker to write the key code on the key cover. If you're talented, like Leonardo Di Vinci you can write it backwards so that when you use a mirror to look at it it will appear correctly.

I'll check with a local locksmith. (We don't have a Toyota dealership in town, but I wonder if the Nissan dealership could do it...)

Funny how a simple question can turn into loads of info, knowledge and tips.

I have a key hidden on my bike and once hidden I covered it in my special tacky stuff here and it will never, come loose, rot, jingle, or be inadvertently discovered, it takes tools to get there and I can always summons some simple tools to get the key. Can you tell I have lost a few keys?

Another use for my Tacky Stuff! 99 cents, cheap cheap!
