Its actually part of a tie strap that runs under the rear frame and attaches to the cage.

"Therefore, we recommend that you try before you buy. Forget about being self-conscious, and try wearing the helmet at a local motorcycle shop for at least 30 to 45 minutes to minimally determine if it will be comfortable."

What they suggest at that link, I can't imagine doing this.

Re:Helmets 2 Months ago
Pfft... Me either. When I buy a new helmet, I put it on, snug up the chin strap, and then rock the helmet left and right and backwards and forwards to determine how much play there is. Then I move my head around to get the feel and the weight of it. I pick points to my left and right so I can determine how much peripheral vision I'm losing, if any. That's pretty much it. Takes all of about five minutes.

I have and use daily a HJC full face with a lift-able chin bar and Sun shade built in. I love it! yes I paid over $200 for it, but it was the "Mac Daddy" and I knew that I would use it daily. I bought my girlfriend a Full face Scorpion, and it wasn't as much as the function as it "matches her jacket" and it was "pretty".
Womans Leather MC Jacket $250
Scorpion Full face helmet $225
Leather gloves $45
Leather chaps $175

So much for free

Girlfriend feels pretty - $Priceless.

Hey Java, is that pic for real... or just a joke? I can't imagine a contraption like that.

I gotta believe if someone is that scared of something happening to them that they would go to that extreme... get a car!

Re:Helmets 2 Months ago
I'm glad I had mine on this morning. I live on a corner lot.... this morning as I was leaving the house, some fool came flying around the corner, I hit the binders as I was at the apron of the driveway, realized my legs are shorter than I thought and layed her down in the driveway (embarasing to say the least), rolled off and slammed my head on the ground. I'm 100% OK, a bit pissed at the fool, but happy that I raked the leaves yesterday, because the bike actually landed in the leaf pile, not a scratch! I'll have to get the helmet checked out thou.

Glad I had it on!!
