It's now the era of "Change" JW. The standards have been lowered to 40k now.

Re:Sig pic deleted 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
There is another thread addressing this issue but I'll elaborate again.

The standard is 450 pixels and 50 kb (and yes we're anal re the size ).

One of the things that the staff has noticed was that depending on your browser and browser version, the info presented when you right click on your photo varies. It drove us nuts at first, as each staff member was reporting different size pics. We finally solve the reported discrepancies and decided that the size of the pics would be determined by one person (me) using the same brower (FF3 at the moment). This way we would ensure consistency (and fairness). FF3 reports the pic size as both KB and bytes ... the values are not the same .... I use KB.

Yes javawave my pic is 50996 bytes but it's less than 50 KB (don't know the exact number as I'm at work using IE6). That fact was also pointed out by a staff member recently (who's pic I had deleted ). To avoid this confusion I will resize my pic so that it appears less that 50 KB not matter which way it calculated.

No javawave I don't believe that your pic was 43.8 kb. The mods post all oversize pics in a thread we have for that specific purpose, I then verify the size with FF3. One person could make a mistake regarding the size but I highly doubt that two of us would make the same mistake.

I hope this clarifies the issue.

I understand how frustrating it might be for folks who are not savy regarding photo resizing (see thread on Photobucket problems) but remember ..... we do offer a FREE photo resizing service for folks in a real jam. We also encourage folks to use the free on-line services (Photobucket does not cut it)

Yea... mine got deleted and I am not sure how to do it right. Interesting that you mention photobucket... that is what I use and I can't get info on KB's. I can resize to pixels.... but not KB's. Where do I go to do this? I have done it in the past.... but have forgotten I guess... or got lucky.

I just did a tiny rexise this time and the pic is small - but maybe still over 50kb?

Frustrating.

mine currently shows 43498. Its the same pic I just re linked it to photobucket. But if it shows larger than that on your IE which is what I use too, I will gladly resize it. It's not a big deal, I just figured it was a mistake. Let me know. It is easy enough to correct.

Ok, I changed it again. I shows a little over 20,000 Bytes. Not a big deal. I just didnt understand what happened. I promise I wasnt lying about the size, but this should end any problems. Scott

Re:Sig pic deleted 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
In IE6 I get 400 pixels and 43 KB in IE6 so in FF3 is probably OK. Thanks.

Just trying to convey the message that what you see, or think, may not be 'reality'.

As you can see from lakecharles' post, it can be real frustrating when using Photobucket. If you use there service it's best to resize the photo, the upload, rathter than using there pre-set photo resizing option ... that's where most problems arise.
