Anyone else start a winter workout program? 2 Months ago
I started mine today at the local gym. I try to during the winter months to fight 5 pounds a year I seem to put on every winter now. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day to get out of bed.

I need to get back into my regimen. I was doing squats, last May, and my lower back went "POW!!!" Three months of chiropractic treatment didn't do jack for it, either. It's been feeling better for about six weeks now, so maybe I'll get back into it... Cautiously.

I really enjoy it.

Way to go, Java. I'm 25 days into mine with a nutrition/diet/exercise program. From 225 to 210 and from 37+ to 35' on the waist. Best I've felt in years, and I'm motivated to stay with it. My neighbor and I take turns driving to the gym so I can't back out on our 6am commitment. Get a partner if you can. It makes it easier.

Re:Anyone else start a winter workout program? 2 Months ago
I started mine last winter. After the New Year Hangover wore off, I decided i need to get back in shape. Doc wanted to put me on meds for cholesterol, but I wanted to try diet first. Started on the treadmill and took all red meat off the menu. I ended up walking at 4 MPH for an hour every other day. My numbers dropped right into the good zone and I dropped 40 lbs. Then the exercise bug bit me and I have been hitting the gym and doing weights. I feel better than I have in 15 years. Of course the first time I hit the weights, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get my keys off the top shelf in my locker. Now I go 3 times a week and look forward to my time there... If you hurt bad, go and do a light workout. Believe it or not, it makes your muscles stop hurting. Good luck and don't give up.

thanks Paul, I do it every winter, I just lose sight of it during the summer months when I ride or play golf. The first couple of weeks are a killer. As I get older it get harder.

I work out 5 or 6 days a week. Have lost 55 pounds in the past three years. Would like to lose another 10 to 15 pounds, but seem to be stuck where I am.

I used to be keen and dilient once...alas..now I'm fat and lazy.

But there's a glimmer hope for me. I dusted the gym gear off in the shed and have been resurrecting my old weights program for the past 3 weeks...just got to keep at it long enough for it to be habitual..

Best wishes to Java and the rest of you who are having a go
