[hide]Since I started heating my house with the wood burning stove I seem to have no problem keeping the weight off in the winter. Come on over and split some wood with me for a few days and you won’t have to go to that gym. Swinging a maul for a few hours every day and moving that wood to the porch seems to keep me in fairly good shape.
I was working out… in fact I was doing Squats the morning of my wreck. Haven’t really looked at that machine since, I should since I paid $50 for a fairly new Solo Flex out of the local paper…lol.

I remember those days, I used to heat with wood, but took the wood stove out along time ago. It was a good work out.

you have to figure in the cost of the broken mal handles and the broken rear windows of your truck from when you throw the wood into the back of the truck you know!

Might have to talk to you about that. 10years ago I was in great shape, 5'8" 165, running 6 miles (10K) three days a week. Then I retired from the Navy, quit smoking and got a job that limits my free time. I'm now 225lbs, still don't smoke but quickly approaching 50. What do you suggest I do to get started? I've already started to watch my calorie intake and I walk as much as I can, when I have the chance.

My winter program usually revolves changing from Miller Lite, summer drink of choice, to my winter drink of JD. I really need to expand my horizons. (actually I hit the treadmill for 3 miles about 4 or 5 times a week. all year long)

and you know what tastes really good w/ JD......

I'm hitting the free weights this afternoon. If I'm going to quit smoking, then I definitely need a work-out regimen.

Wintertime drink of choice: Lagavulin scotch. Neat.

I play racquetball 3 days a week during lunch, but recently just started doing the P90X program. Any program that can have me dripping in sweat just from warming up, hey, I'm good with that. But, with my herniated L5 and overhauled right knee, I have to stick to the medium routine. Muscle confusion. It's awesome. Beachbody.com.

Oh yeah.. That still is my favorite way to get rid of a cold. Bundle up and split wood (sweat it out)...
