Electrolyzer: Have you made or seen this? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
I actually started building an electrolyzer from Smack's Booster website. I bought my R* and put the project on hold even though it was nearly done.

Smack lists a PDF of his old *wet* design/assembly. Now he has moved onto a Generation IV *dry cell* electrolyzer.

Have any of you seen these or built one?

He even put one on his Warrior - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHSvec06cRI

Could make a good cold weather project.

Rayjay,This is a hydrogen producer plain and simple,I to have one sitting in the shed ,a multie lead and copper plate unit which will produce a constant stream of hydrogen, when I fed this into the carby it made no difference to the idle speed,if it had worked the charging system on the R* would not keep up,probley in excess of 25 amps, the energy in a litre of hydrogen is less than that of petrol in other words the same as ethanol, you use more of the stuff than straight petrol. At 10 klms per litre 1 cc of petrol will take you 10 meters?,at say 100 kph in that time your 'electrolyzer'must produce enough hydrogen to assist in pushing the vechile down the road plus enough energy to replace the electricty used to create the hydrogen in the first place, almost like perpetual motion, sorry to be like a wet rag but this is why we at this stage dont have hydrogen assisted petrol cars on the road,Petrol engines are about 30% efficent at this stage 70% of all petrol is wasted in heat and friction, this is where we need to look. These boosters produce hydroxy (brown's) gas, not hydrogen. I have read a number of reviews and comments on these type of devices and people say they work. The current draw on the new unit (Gen IV) is about 14 amps (I think)and he has an older small booster unit on an '04 Warrior which has a higher output stator.

One of the biggest proponents (Bob Boyce) rigged up a Toyota Prius with his design and upped his mileage from 40 MPG to 60 MPG.

The Smack Booster is probably one of the most simple and popular designs out there.

I intend on making a Gen IV-type unit soon and will let youse guys know how I make out when I install on my '98 6.5L turbo diesel Suburban. I already have most of the components.
