Hey Gram 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Planning on going to the West Coast Thunder in Riverside over Memorial Day Weekend. A lot of the Hotels/Motels that are close to the event are already sold out. Do you have any suggestions for a nice area that is not to far from Skip Fordyce HD on Indiana Ave in Riverside?

Sorry, been out all day.

That is in an older part of riverside. Its not real close to any other areas that would be worth trying to get too.

If you go west toward corona and norco, you will find some lodging in areas where you won't have to keep one eye on the bike all night long.

If this is a one day event that might be worth it. If you want to enjoy libations while your there it might be too far to go. fwiw, Corona is about twenty minutes from Skip Fordyce.

Another alternative would be to go east toward the 215/10 interchange. There are some areas around there that have some freeway type lodging that might be reasonable.

What direction will be coming (besides south). Are you coming down 5?

Also, what days are coming and what days (days of week) are you returning? That might factor in to based on traffic.

Gram

Thanks Gram. We will be coming down on Saturday, and leaving for home on Tuesday. I think we will come in on 15 and stay completely of I-5. It is good to know that we don't want to stay in that area of Riverside. I think I will check out motels in Corona. The activities for the event will be taking place on Sat. Sun. and Monday which is Memorial Day, so hopefully not much traffic to deal with. Any recommendations for motels in Corona?

Good. If you can stay off of I-5 and the 405, you've got it made. I absolutely hate driving on either of those.

One more question Gram. Is the area around I-15 and 2nd St. West in Norco a nice area? I'm thinking about the Howard Johnson at that location. Looks like a pretty nice place for the price.
Frank you are right about not wanting to ride I-5, we will try to stay off of it. I'm thinking that we will add a few extra miles by going out thru Lancaster which is some least traveled roads. Should catch 15 a few miles before Riverside.
