Re:AFTERMARKET SEATS? 1 Month, 1 Week ago
Okay. I cut down the backrest bracket. I took an inch and a quarter off of it, ground and filed the sharp edges, and then loosened up the swivel on the seat back and got it adjusted where it will support my back at a nicer angle. I think it worked out pretty good. It's still not supporting my lumbar spine, but with it hitting me just above that, I think it will be a big help.

Edit: Also, after taking the seat off and looking inside of it where the backrest swivel is, I can see a striker plate inside, that the backrest swivel-socket rests against. If I need the backrest to sit a little more forward, I think I can use some JB Weld to add a couple of washers to that plate so that the backrest won't go back as far. I'll ride it for a while the way it is, first.

My biggest, and really ONLY gripe with my Roadie is how uncomfortable the seat has been. With these modifications to it, I'll either end up with a seat that's satisfactory, or else I'll end up wrecking the damn thing and buying a new seat. Either way, it'll work out.

I've always like the Corbin seats, I sit down in the more comfortably and I like the firmness of the foam. When I had my saddlebags made, I had the seat recovered to match. It was then that I found out how inferior the leather was compared to what I've got now. Corbin's faded within 6 mos (I had a tan color) and was about half the thickness of what I've got now.
