V & H 2 TO 1 PRO PIPES 3 Years, 3 Months ago
I was at my local dealer yesterday just to check on their price for a set of V&H 2 to 1 Pro Pipes for my 07*. They said that there is a problem with the pipes in that they don't match up to the front cylinder correctly. I believe others have used this same set of pipes but I haven't heard of this problem mentioned here. My question is, has anyone had problems installing these pipes on the 07 R*? I will order the pipes on line because the dealers price is, of course, tooooooo high..

Hi Midnight1700 -

That seems to be some sort of strange myth that V&H themselves created. read page 7 of this thread ProPipe and you'll see some comments on it. That's the pipe I'm planning on getting as soon as this economy stops spiraling out of control

I put it on my 05 and they fit perfect. Great pipe and reasonable price.

I called V and H and they admitted they probably fit 04 and up but they had yet to put them on one so they could not advertise them that way. Smart move on their part.

Yeah, they have given people different answers, though. They told me that the 1700 motor was "taller" and that the pipes needed to be bent to fit. This seems blatantly untrue, since no other pipe maker specifies that they fit only the 1600cc motor, and no one on the Clinic has had any trouble fitting the ProPipe to the 1700s.

When in doubt, I trust the collective wisdom of.... da Clinic!

Put it on my 1700 after V & H told me it wouldnt fit. Bolted right up. I am unsure if they intended to market something else for the 1700 or what their reasoning is, but it fits fine.

Re:V & H 2 TO 1 PRO PIPES 3 Years, 3 Months ago
My understanding from V&H is that the 1700 requires a larger dia. pipe based on the valve modification in 2004..Header pipe went from 1.5 to 1.75 and the muffler body went fro 2.25 to 2.5 ( for the long shots)
Dealer told me the pipes on my 04 are the wrong ones based on this...The factory pipes also increased in size for 04...I don't believe it matters much.

If it fits, it wouldn't be a matter of what it requires.

How it will matter is in the area of performance. They must have determined that the larger diameter pipe enhances the performance of the 1700 better than that which they used in the manufacture of the pipes for the 1600.

Exhausts are tuned by the diameter and length of pipe used, as well as with crossovers, and things like anti-inversion cones.

While the pipes for the 1600 will fit the 1700, and there will almost certainly be a performance gain over the stock pipes, due to the larger diameter pipes for the 1700 version of the Pro-pipe, it will probably perform even better.

Enough that you could actually feel the difference? Maybe, and then more likely at the upper end of the RPM range.
