yet ANOTHER key mod! 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Ok, so this isn't totally interesting, but I had a little time on my hands this weekend. I made this from a chrome toilet nut cap (about $2.50 for a package of 2 at the HW store). I bought a spare key and had it cut. I then ran a small bolt through the keyhole with a nut & washer on each side of the key to give leverage when turning. Finally, I filled the cap with JB Weld, making sure the key dried straight. Here are the pics:

:-DD.

Very good,, did the same thing a few years ago with the chrome end cap from the stock hand grip. I replaced the grips with iso's.

Kinda afraid to do it now as there are a lot more stars riders on the road than before but I always used to just leave the key in the bike no matter where I parked while out on a ride, was and is a pain to carry big knob key in your pocket. Nobody recoginized that was where the key was.

Left bike at a buddies campsite one night while we all went out in the one cage we had, and buddy told his drunk friend he could ride it if he found the key to start it , even gave him a hint that it was on the bike in the ignition. Lucky for me he got real board real quick looking for it and never did find it.

I v'e seen some real good ideas for keys, but unless you get the missus to carry it in her handbag or you have a manbag they would be pretty uncomfortable in any pocket

I'm thinking about throwing my key into one of these. I wonder if they have a larger one...

Now if you took that cap and put a "PUSH" sticker on top of it, people might think you have a Push ignition. Could you imagine how many people would try to push it? I think that would be hilarious.
