saddlebag crash bars..... 3 Years ago
hey guys....a little help here please.

awhile ago, there was an article posted in the tech articles (i think) dealing with saddle bag guards from.....a royal star, or at least i think it was a royal star. they showed the drilling and mounting procedures and was a cool article. I thought i had bookmarked it but i can't find it in doing searches of the forum and tech articles. I've just ordered a trunk from scootworks, and i think i want to put some bars in the back to help protect it in case of a inadvertant drop at slow speed or gravity prevails after its parked.

I was unsure if i want to get some of the new bars i've seen some of you guys have that wrap around or just the ones like the ones on the royal star.

anyway, if someone runs across it, could you throw it in here?

Thanks

cass

If your running stock bags,Yamaha has a nice set of
bag gaurds and rails that they sell

I`m sure some of the fellas with them on will post
so you can see them I have RY* mounts and rails
and bags. But it`s abit more work to install.

thanks guys....jack that was the one i was looking for. still cant pull it up or find it but now that i have the article i'm sure i can find it burried in here someplace. on the pm, the pics didn't show. appreciate the send

vegas dave...appreciate the come back...i' might have to take a look at those wrap arounds. i have the softbags vs. hard bags, so they probably won't look as good with the soft ones....but then its always an excuse to get new ones......

Thanks guys

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I was surprised to see how large of a hole you need to drill in the mounting brackets. Almost seems like that would negatively impact the structural integrety of the bracket. Anyone ever have any problems?

I had tour classic bags on my bike prior to going with the Siverado bags.. i also used the Yamaha saddle bag guards.. I never had to drill any holes anywhere with either.

the tour classic guards are meant for the tour classic saddlebag mounts

since you have the standard mounts for the soft saddlebags you have to modify them to use tour classic guards

I did the mod and it is ok...BUT that was before Yamaha came out with the guards and rails for your setup

I ordered the rails and guards as seen in my sig pic...

why dont you do the same??? you can just put on the saddlebag guards and forgo the trim rails...no drilling etc
