How much is to Much? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Does anybody notice engine vibration that is excessive? Is it the nature of the beast or what? I have a 1700 R*, 2006. I bought iy new and have 9000 miles on it now. I put on a corbin dual touring seat this winter and also new metzlers. Could I just be noticing it more because of corbin seat because of less padding in the seat. I'm thinking of switching to an Ultimate seat package. Test drove a Honda VTX 1300 yesterday and it did not have the engine vibration. But it is no R* when it comes to power and performance. Any ideas anyone?

The single pin crank of Roadies leads to a lot of vibration. Harleys have the same problem, but they use rubber engine mounts to dampen the vibration. Roadies don't.

Tuning can affect this problem, as can your exhaust. Two into one exhaust will help smooth things out, drags make it worse. If your tuning is dead on and finds the best balance between the needs of the rear cylinder and the front that will help too.

But nothing will totally get rid of it.

Blame the Corbin... I tried one on for less than 10 minutes and absolutely hated it. Why? The vibration went right up my spine due to that seat. Put the original right back on, vibration issue solved.

If you still have the original seat, just do a quick swap and see if that isn't it.

I put Dyna-beads in my tires, aired them up with Nitrogen and it was SMOOOOOOOOTH at 100MPH (GPS not Speedo) and I had a full load of camping gear also. Or maybe it was just the Ultimate seats??

Try to remember you are sitting on an engine as large as some small automobiles and have only two cylinders, not four, to smooth things out.

All of the things mentioned above have merit.

I have the same year, same seat and the same tires. I used to complain about the vibes on the grips until I put Kury's on. I've have a Corbin solo which passes the vibes thru to my ass but not the dual. I'm not sure what you rode before but this is a tank.

not much help eh??
