Only time I ever broke down (fuel pump), mind you it's 11:30 at night in a NOT nice area, and a guy on an BEAUTIFUL Electra Glide pulls up and asks if I needed help, even offered to go back to his house some miles away and bring back tools. I had just finished bypassing the pump and he hung around until I made sure it started and ran OK.
I'll never pass a rider in need...

Many years ago I stopped on Hi-way 178 in Kern County Ca (stationed at China Lake). There was a Mercedes pulled over with a flat, the woman had the trunk open and was trying to get the spare out, I turned around, pulled up behind her to help, and when she turned around, it was Linda Carter! My lucky day, I changed her tire for her, she told me she was in the area looking to buy some property.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Good things come to those who do good things for others, and that's proof!
For you young guys who don't know who Linda Carter is, she played Wonder Woman in a TV series, and she was HOT!   |

Coming out of the bank this one hot summer day, I get approached by a guy, sweating his bag off, telling me how his car broke down on the highway, and had to get it towed to a where he lived (about 80KMS away) and there was no room in the tow truck cuz his kid and wife went with the tow truck driver and the car, and it was his kids graduation tonite and he needed some cash to catch a Greyhound home so he could go to his daughters graduation and he had left his wallet in his car. Now, having the gift of a great judgement of ones character, I thought this guys legit, mid 40's, didnt look like a drunk, in fact looked like my godsons hockey coach. I hand the guy 20 bucks, he says "Thanks and God bless you" and I go back to work.
I get back to work and through conversation tell my business partner what had happened.... He finished my story for me, and perfectly described the guy. Apparantly he was taken for 10 bucks on Saturday night while going for a walk with his wife and kids. I'm thinking WTF???
Fast forward three years, same bank, except in mid winter. I pull into a parking spot around the side of the bank, and here comes some guy all bundled up, asking for a handout cuz his car broke down....this time I finish his sentence, and he turns pale white-"Oh Sh!T-nevermind" he says, turns around and starts to run off. He falls on some ice, i get ontop of him, and just before I lay a fist into him, he reaches into his pocket and gives me a 20. I grab another 20 out of his wad and tell him its the interest. I then picked him up off the ground and told him I'd give him the opportunity to run and off he went-never to be seen again.
See, karma works.

I'm with you RH. I'm 61 and have been riding forever and always stop if someone is on the side of the road and looks like they may need help. When they try to pay me when I do help I just tell them to help the next person when they see someone stopped because it might be me----jack
