I don't know what the deal is with the mileage in the mountains. You would think the hight the elevation the richer the mix, whatever it is I don't know. My brother rides a HD and experiences the same thing. One day I actually had a tank of gas average 65. The bike ran outstanding and the weather was almost perfect.

Well I put new plugs in, gaped and all, cleaned and re oiled the K&N air filter, ran 5 oz of sea foam thru a tank, rode 100 miles at 65 mph and it took 3.24 gal to fill it up. Guess PMS is next.

Got a 03 R*. Ive put on a intake, big air kit, pipes, and of course rejetted. Before all my mods I was getting about 42mpg. Now with all the mods its even better. I did a 1200 mile loop to Florida and back a week ago, averaged all my tanks of gas and got 46-47mpg. Better performance and better fuel milage. Life is great.

Yesterday, I rode with the inlaws. I was getting 52.7 mpg. I filled it up at the start of the ride, reached our destination with a 1/2 tank gas left. On the ride back I filled the gas to the same spot. again. Filled again and was getting the same mileage. Since I filled to the same spot each time, The amount of gas it had taken to reach that spot, I just divided it into the miles that I had riden.
I have a standard silverado windshield. The only thing I have changed that may effect gas mileage is the exhaust. I am running Bub Stubbies. We rode pretty hard also yesterday, so I was really surprised to see the calculator read 52.7 mpg. I was also riding solo. When riding 2 up I usually get 46-48 mpg.
