Well, the bike's not in the garage this evening - 3 Years, 10 Months ago
The Roadie said hello to a Mustang today. Not sure which one won. Interestingly enough, yours truly walked away without a scratch.

Riding in front of a local "gated" apartment complex. Apparently someone two cars in front of me stopped in the street to wait for the gate to open. The car in front of me slammed on his brakes. I did the same and dumped the scoot. Left me sitting on my ass in the middle of the road. The scoot slid across traffic and the Mustang ran into it. I fear the Roadie is totaled. The Mustang looks worse than it is, since the entire front-end is plastic facia and fiberglass.

The Roadie:

Of course, I got "faulted" with this deal for "failing to maintain control." Yeah, I guess so. It is what it is.

Got a feeling I'll have a few parts to sell soon - including some stuff new in box that I never got around to bolting on. In hindsight that's probably a good thing.

Sigh. I've already been nosing around on-line looking for a replacement. Going to be hard to find one I like as much as I did this one.

Bikes are replaceable....people are not. You walked away and that's what matters. And that Mustang looks like it lost the fight!!!!

Another shot of the front-end. Yeah, it's toast. Entire front end shot. Engine bars trashed. One peg and one saddle bag trashed. Whole ass-end skewed out of whack. Oh, and the transmission won't shift below 3rd. Other than that . . .

After swapping insurance info I called the wife to come pick me up. She arrived on the scene, took one look at the bike and said, "You are getting another one, aren't you?"

I said, "If this one can't be fixed - yes."

"That's good," she said.

And that was that.

Heavy,

I am very sorry for your loss. Man she took a beating. But the bottom line is that you are OK. She can always be replaced (somewhat). Your pictues bring the reality of the risks we take riding the bike. BTW were you wearing a helmet, leather, and boots? If so do you think the safety gear helped you from more extensive damage?

Good luck in your new quest for a replacement,

Joe

Yeah, I was wearing the old skid lid. No leathers. Heavy denim jeans, t-shirt, boots. The last time I dumped a bike was in the the late seventies. I was wearing a helmet then, too, and I still managed to fracture my skull (and break three rips and my pelvis). The bike survived THAT one relatively unscathed and I rode it home. This time the scoot wasn't going anywhere except on the back of a flatbed.

Your wife is very cool. She understands your loss also. I wear full gear anytime I ride. I have dropped mine a couple of times and would be dead and/or very injured if it wasn't for the gear. When you get alist of parts you are going to sell, let me know, maybe the funds can help towards a new scoot. Are you going to get another R* ?
