I don't want to open a can of worms here, but.....

From the photo of the car and it's windshield it looks like if the rider had been wearing some sort of noggin protection he might have survived his run in with the car. The bike itself doesn't look all that damaged.

Sad to hear that you can ride cross country and you get nailed by a cager only a few miles from home.

Remember, they're out to get us guys, so ride safe.

Report reads like it was his fault. Pulling away from a stop sign into an oncoming car...

That really stinks...!
I can tell y'all, as one who lives down in this area... These cagers have absolutly no regard for anybody else on the road (car or bike... but, expecially bikes...) It's almost like it's "get out of my way... you're taking up my space!"

I blew up the picture and it looks like the cager taged the bike right about at the left side floorboard (the left rear of the tank and floorboard is pretty mashed up...)
As far as a brain bucket... in this case... not to be grusome about it, but... He was probably pretty beaten up pretty bad, from the car...
Dang! This kind of think gets me riled!
This make the third Yami article this week, in the Florida news... (Another one was in Ormond Beach, on Sunday. (Just north of Daytona...) And, again, in Kissimmee... (over by Orlando...)
Be carefull out there guys!

Reminds me of how lucky I am.
Currently in week 6 of recovering from a pick-up turning left in front of my 99 RS.
According to the witness reports, I somehow swerved left and back hard right and missed the truck but bounced off the 2nd car behind it before I could get straightened back up.
I ended up with a concussion and not quite an hour amnesia from the wreck, clavicle snapped in 4 places, multiple fractures on the majority of my right side ribs, hip and shoulder rotator injury TBD after swelling is down and the bones reattach.
One minute I was riding on empty road 5 miles from wreck and glanced at my speed and the time, then the next thing I remember is during the ambulance ride to the helicopter and a medic asking me what year it was. I looked up as his head and the interior of the ambulance jostled around and said, "2009, where's my bike?" He smiled and said, "Good, your back, you've had an accident." Then the pain hit.

The good news is, it only damaged beyond moderate repair, all the tins, windshield and right brake res assembly.

The insurance totaled my bike, I bought the salvage and now that I no longer black out if I sneeze or cough, in a week or two, with some hard work and a little e-bay luck, I'll have it back in shape and ride it again. It may be a lot longer before I can ride my rigid.

On a side note, nothing helps you appreciate the benefits of a high fiber diet like having most of your ribs broke .. ;c)

Re:Hope its nobody here 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Total pay off for 99 XV1600AL with 76,000 miles was 4000 and some change and buy back was 700.

(Just so you know before you read this next part, I always run lightbar and headlight at all times.)

Man, I'm not sure if wearing neon would help either, verbatim statement wrote by cop from p-u driver on accident report: "Driver of vehicle #1 stated that he was turning left into exxon when he was blinded by vehicles headlights."
...
..
I don't know about the rest of the driving world, but when I am blinded by oncoming headlights I feel safe in presuming there is an actual vehicle and not just blinding lights.

I guess it's lucky for him he found this out with motorcycle headlights rather than the headlights on a locomotive.

Oh yeah, and for a motorhead like me, this place rocks, lots of tech info, diagrams, manuals and even in process detail pictures.
(Although more pictures of Michelle from GDSW would be nice too.)

Awesome website, my thanks to the host.
