Changing spring & lowering 4 Years, 10 Months ago

Has anyone changed out their rear spring? what brand did you use? I am looking at Barons at 913lbs per inch and Progressive at 1200lbs at it lowers the bike 1/2"
I am a big guy 6'1" and my wife is.... well two up we're about 440lbs.
I am also looking at lowering my bike the Fat bike way at the same time.
Did you have to use a special tool to change the spring? I know Barons sells a spring removal tool. I changed my 650 VStar without any special tools.
After lowering does the tire hit the fender when you hit bumps?

ultrastar: Is anyone planing on going to Star Days this year? its in Reno NV this year thats only about a 5 hour ride for me the last one I went to was in CO. a 2 day ride riding 80 + and 14 hour days
