making ya jealous! 2 Years, 4 Months ago
Rode 100 miles of Highway 1 here in California from Fort Bragg to Jenner yesterday. then finished it up with a cruise along the Russian River. Clear, warm and no wind, blue Pacific and a zillion twists and turns. My idea of a road made to be ridden! And the Roadie was perfect.....

here is a picture about half way down the coast between Fort Bragg and Jenner. wife snacking on a granola bar while I admire the view...her, the bike and the Pacific!

go to Google maps and get directions between the two towns and see what comes up....go to satellite view and follow the road, its amazing, every turn is a fresh view of the Pacific smacking on rocks.

Not jealous, we have that whole sky, road, twisties and nature wizzing by thing here in NC too.
Not to count the occasional thump-thump of a possum in the dark ..

Damn sure glad you got some good riding in though, no matter how crappy the weather is where I am, it's always nice to know someone, somewhere is having a really nice ride.
Woulda been nice to have been riding there with ya though, always cool to see more stuff and have a friend along.

Edit: Well, maybe a little envy, I used to love the ride up Hwy-101 from Eureka and anywhere north, back when I was stationed up there in the late 70's.
God I hope I get to ride that stretch of road again before I die.
Damn, now ya got me wishin and daydreamin ..

that stretch or road, heck all of Highway 1 will get to you on a clear day.

Lots of great riding places in this country, just wanted to share a sweet ride with every one.

Hey Takehikes
I just took that trip this past May...I came through Healdsburg and followed the Russian river to Jenner then headed South to Bodega Bay (The Goonies and the Birds were filmed there). We went all the way down to Santa Maria on the PCH through Carmel and Big Sur. While crossing the Golden Gate we were hit with 40-50mph gust Scary.
Most days it was 60 degrees and fog on hwy 1 but 30 miles inland it was a sunny 100 degrees and 35 mph steady winds.
But yes what a beautiful state California is.
I had not been out there since 92 but will try to make a trip every year or two now.
Glad you had a good ride and thanks for sharing.

My daughter and son-in-law are stationed at Cherry Point Air Station (Havelock, NC) both are Marines and say the same thing, the weather there can get real tricky. Nice and sunshine one day and hail the next. The next five days good for fishing, the next three thunderstorms. Wow, and I thought Texas had strange weather because it touches the Gulf of Mexico. Wait a minute, we do have that kind of weather too!!! Hope you get to do your "Hwy-101" ride someday. Lone*Road*

hey Southwest, ere you turned south I turned north. Our coast line can always be dicey. If you can catch it without fog and wind you are blessed believe me! PCH (Pacific Coast Highway for those of you who don't know) is the best along Carmel/Big Sur, unreal stuff. I have ridden north where I went this time dozens of times and never had the weather so nice. No chaps, just a jacket and light gloves....that cold Pacific still keeps it cool even on a sunny day!

I am sure you know too takehikes, the winter is usually the best time to go, no fog warmer weather and no tourists. People always think summer to go to the beach. Not so here in NorCal.ODB
