Don't forget even if a plug is supposed to be "pregapped" That gap needs to be checked. It is not uncommon for the gap to change during shipment from being banged around or dropped. As Erbman said closing the gap is easy by tapping on a hard surface . To open the gap you can very carfully grab the grounding tip with a pair of pliers on the outside and pull it open to the correct gap rather than prying on the center electrode. If the gap is too tight you will not get a proper spark it will be a cold spark , If the gap is too wide you will get a hot spark and that is not good either.

dvblair: Has anyone cut off the heel portion of the shifter? I never use it and would like to have the extra room. I would like to remove it but it looks like you would need a spacer on the shaft and I'm not sure ...
