I did the other bike that way and didn't have a problem (even 2 up). I was at a point where I wasn't sure if a bike was going to be within my budget (damn Dave Ramsey) and because of the deal he gave me I am still on 2 wheels. The uppers are chrome so I would like it to match. I do want to lower the front and will do it at the same time either way I go. I've enjoyed watching this project of yours come along. I really like that color, it goes well w/ the diamond plate accents, which really stand out.
