Roadstar 1 - HD 0 ...again 2 Years, 3 Months ago
NO Im not bashin'. Just relating what happened today. So Im toolin along on I-95 today when I see a bike comin up on me in my mirror. Dude on an early model Softail pulls along side of me. Guess we was runnin about 70mph or so. I nod to him as he is scopin my bike. He actually shakes his head, smirks and tries to gun it. Clown. I give it some thought as I hear his rpms shoot up but the bike BARELY accelerates. This is like chummin the water after the stresses of the past few weeks. Once I hear him about blow his pistons thru his valve covers and make almost ZERO momentum. So I grip it and rip it...pull up along side of him at about 80 or so...shake my head at him when he angrily looks at me and slowly roll the throttle wide open still looking at him and leave him in the dust. That was too EZ says me to myself, so I slowed down and let him catch up.. Now he wont even look my way so I inch ahead of him by about 5-8 yards and give him a little bye bye wave and let 'er rip. Last I saw of him I was doing roughly 95 maybe 100 cuz I had looked down real quick at the speedo as I jumped into the HOV lane, he was just gettin smaller in the mirror and then he was gone. Probably shouldnt have endangered myself on the highway like that...dont tell wifey or she will NOT be happy. She used to get really mad when I used to race my 1st gen. Venture. THAT bike was double quick! Venture went 6-0 against Vettes and chewed up 9HD only thing that gave me a run on that bike was an old hotrod pickup Just thought I would throw that in. Was the highlight of my day

Shame on you picking on those Harley's! Gotta love that little bit of stress relief huh? I would love to hear his side of the story...of course the typical response is "I wasn't even racing!" Yeah right!

Maybe it's my size , but I never get to race anybody. Before y'all hoot and holler about how unsafe it is or getting tickets , blah , blah , blah,...... I know. Didn't say I'd do it , but I would at least like the chance...... Happens to my buddies routinely....BB

I'm with ya BB - if I wanted to race I'd need one of those Rocket IIIs or something!

I'll tell ya, though - my bro'-in-law drives a VStar 1300 and weighs something like 45 lbs. less than I do, and we're evenly matched. Go Roady!

I know what you mean about the 1st gen Ventures VW. My '86 was a speedy sonuvagun. Not that I ever raced it....

Feels good to puff out your chest a little. We men rarely get to do that very much these days. I'd have probably done the same, especially if he was jerk enough to give me a look down his nose. All in good fun. I WAS fun wasn't it?

i once run my 650 star against a trans am from a dead stop at a red light. he was reving at me and i let idiotic pride get its foot in the door. needless to say my bike even being a 650 had him from take off but i hit top end at 85 and he did not so he won on the long haul
