Me and the wife went out for "errands" on Saturday, and got back 210 miles and a LOT of new scenery later. Definitely gotta LOVE the Southwest this time of year!

I'm one block off the main drag in Napa. Nothing I hate worse than to be at the house mowing or working on my bike and hear a bunch of bikes headed north towards the vineyards! Wait for me.......

Uh, salt comes out of a shaker guys you don't have to find it along the road.
Or in my case here in Newport Beach, the ocean!

I know we all love riding our bikes for many different reasons; the joy it brings us at times is imeasureable. Simply put I enjoy riding my bike. So... how does one actually enjoy riding when it's 30 degrees or less? Riding at those temps. just does not seem fun. I can understand not being able to wait for spring, and 50-60 degrees is doable for a short spell; but if it's no fun or too uncomfortable I just assume wait. I'm not being mean here just curious. In it's simplest form below freezing and motorcycles just don't go together.

A fair question. Let's see if I can explain it, it's really not the temp, it's more about the road condition. We are used to the temps, 30's are comfortable to us after a few weeks of 10 and below. We have to go out in it. I wear long johns almost everyday and that one extra layer makes a huge difference. When the temps warm up 20 degrees and the sun is shining it feels warm. I lived in Iceland for 3 years, the warmest it ever got in the time I was there was low 60's and I'm telling you people were laying out in the sun with just underwear on. People would swim outside all year round there. The pool water was warm, keeping the people warm.

In the north, when it gets into the 90's, it's HOT to us, yet we can go down south and endure your 100 degree temps without issue, and people from the south enjoy our mild summers. Make sense?

Darn, It makes sense as long as you are happy. I know people up north and in snow country have to take advantage of good weather when they can, and being acclimated certianly helps. I consider myself and others on this thread lucky to be able to have a longer riding season. But get this yesterday in Vancouver the high was 50, here in NE FL. the high was 58 go figure.

High here yesterday was 35 F. I took the bike for about a 15- 20 mile ride. It felt great (long-johns and heavy coveralls, face mask)! Other than under 30 degree days, I'm pretty sure I'll be taking it out more often, at least once a week for a ride like that. Gotta' luv that it's gonna start getting warmer soon!!!

....it is gonna start getting warmer soon, right?....

Got home yesterday afternoon, it was in the mid 50's. Had told my wife that I was going to work in the yard. when I got out of my truck I heard a motor running. My neighbor across the street was warming up his GSZR1000. When my wife got home Pearl and I were gone! Sure felt good.

Re:I'm not alone 2 Years, 3 Months ago
My work has dropped off this week. Yesterday it was 59 with 20+mph wind out of the south. I put the new Cobra slash cuts on, cleaned away all of the finger prints and fired up the bike.
After a few minutes, I grabbed the half helmet with leather ear covering and took a short ride. Felt good but was way too short. The Batwing fairing with the stock Yamaha Silverado chrome lowers really did a good job of keeping the wind off. I didn't put my leathers on and only had my open finger gloves on. My feet and ankles felt the cold but man it was nice to hear the engine purr!
The Cobra pipes aren't really what I wanted but the price was right so as usual, you get what you pay for. I hope to fab the trunk mount today if the rain doesn't get in the way. I have to weld outside due to too many combustibles inside the garage. Got everything shined up the day before yesterday so the bike looks good. Hope to get some pics soon.
The weather forecast here in OK is for rain and cold, possibly snow AGAIN! Might be April before I can hit the road for a real ride. Meanwhile, I'll go out in the garage and sit on the Roadie and make "vroom-vroom" sounds .

32 this morning and 44 now (2:45 pm). Wanted to ride my scoot, but can't get her from the garage to the road with all the snow!

I ride with long john bottoms, leather jacket with a light polartec jacket or hoodie under.

The only things that get cold are my ankles and wrists. When it is under 30, my face gets cold, but I just endure it.

I just got new gloves but no chance to try them out.

THIS GLOBAL WARMING IS KILLING ME!!
