A little advice if spraying out of a rattle can. Keep a rag or paper towel handy and wipe the spray tip frequently. If you don't it will get a build up and when the build up lets go you will have a clump in the paint. You can sand it down once it dries, but this can be avoided by just wiping the tip off. Also use thin coats - I did 3. 2 light and 1 medium coat. This will give you just a very slight texture and IMO looks alot better. Let us know if you decide to go for it.

Yeah just like a regular paint job, I just scuffed it down and sprayed it. I had a little gas get on it around the fill hole and it was unaffected. I am very careful though when filling up and try to keep a rag handy to wrap around the gas nozzle so I don't get any on the tank. The one time I did get a little on it I was filling it from a 5 gallon jug and it got a little out of control. The way I look at it is if it is meant to be used in a truck bed to haul cargo then it should hold up tremendously to what we put out tank and fender through. I have gotten quite a few compliments.

FYI: I have not been through a riding season yet with it so I haven't fully tested it. I just did it a couple months ago.

My friend rides an xs1100 that he bobbed and has had bed liner spray can for his finish for the last two years. It looks the same as it did when first done and since his texture is of the smother variety {depends how far you hold the can and how many coats} He even waxes it. He purposely put gas on it once and it seemed unaffected...

Yes it was duplicolor. I got it at O'reilly's for around $9.00 a can.

I am in the process of doing the bed-liner paint job on my bike. I will post pics when done. I am also going to paint or powdercoat the rims.

When you say "scuff it down" what does that process entail exactly?

I am far from a paint and body guy so hopefully someone else will chime in here. When I got my bike it was sprayed flat black with no clear so I just sanded it with 220 to scuff up the surface a bit. The paint was a disaster when I got the bike and had runs and alot of imperfections so I just sanded down the imperfections to where I was starting with a level surface.
My father is installing some cabinets in his garage that came out of our neighbors kitchen. They are not a very "garage like" color so we did a test on a removable shelf with this same stuff. We were able to scratch it, but it held strong. We took things like paint cans and other metal objects and slid them around on the shelf and it held strong. The only time I was able to scratch it was when I took the edge of a spray paint can and slid it back and forth repeatedly while pushing down fairly hard. I sprayed the scratched area to see how it would touch up and it was hardly noticeable. It was definitely much more than the cabinets will ever see in a normal garage environment. This was over Formica which is fairly slick. We were both impressed and he is going to do all the cabinets with it.

You're going to have to change your name to Mr. Bedliner Spray.
