in so cal we got em everywhere I hit them all the time splitting lanes never had a problem. I don't like them and do try to avoid them but, never had a problem

Yea. . .I'll try to avoid them. . .not at all cost but. . .I've had two flat tires on my cage hitting those things . . One between Charleston and Huntington WV (to be fair there WAS road construction) and same trip, right outside Winchester KY. they may be plastic, but you never know what's 'lurking' inside waiting to bite you.

If the conditions are right I like to use them for slalom practice Guess they are just part of life here in South Florida and they are really necessary when the rains are falling as white lines are invisible with an inch of water on the road.

I avoid them by avoiding the Interstates around here. They used to be made out of ceramic but went plastic at some point. I do know they are slippery when wet so don't hit one in a curve, might upset you!
