Oil Temp 1 Year, 10 Months ago
I don't have any idea what our oil temp runs at but I put a 140 to 300 deg temp gauge in and when the engine warms up the gauge doesn't reach 140.
So does any one know about what the oil temp is? I'm thinking I should have got a lower rang gauge

Check to see that your gauge is working. I would think that it wouldn't be unusual to run over 200º.
I just looked at a oil cooler website and they refered to an average of 220º for an air cooled Vtwin

Ya Dave it's working it moves more then half way between the needle stop pin and the 140 deg mark, I guess I'll just finish putting her back together and and take her for a ride and see what happens
The plus side is that the tach and the oil pressure gauge works

I remember reading somewhere oil should get hot enough to boil off water. This helps keep moisture out of the crankcase. Hope this helps

Well I just checked everything out and found that I pinched the wire from the temp sending unit between the oil pressure sending unit I guess I might shorted it out so her goes another $70.00 for a new one.
I put the gauges in my fairing so I can't have just the two working

Put the sensor in some boiling water and see if it reads 212 before going out and buying another one.
