AMSOIL 4 Years, 11 Months ago
I run AMSOIL in everything i own. The 20w-50 V-twin oil. is made just for air cooled big inch v-twins. along with there other lubes. your trans, and engine will run cooler and last longer.

check them out at http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mcv.aspx

if anyone knows about making power. the cooler your engine is the more power it can make. this is why every high performance machine i work on runs amsoil.

Also you dont have to change your oil untill 20,000 miles or one year.

This is what i get out of my pick-up. i get 36,000 miles per oil change.
if you do the math. for the money spent on buying amsoil you save in the long run.

I change my oils once a year and thats less oil being used and wasted.

check it out and help the planet with less oil changes.

I have 4 quarts to switch to on my next oil change but I don't think I want to go as long as you do between changes. Just my choice!

well to eash is there own. but amsoil states you can go 20k or one year. On my truck i send in a sample and they reply to me by phone. last time i sent it in i got you can go another 15k before changing. and they told me i had no metal wear found in the oil. and this is on my 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4. i changed it anyway. i use in my truck 0w-30 seires 2000. for the atvs i run 0w-40 atv oil and now for the roadie 20w-50 v-twin oil. in the trans case im going to run the severe gear oil. in a car it can go 100k before changing so im thinking once a year is over kill but worth the money.

Wow, that's a lot of miles between oil changes. If I weree to change the oil every 20,000 miles on my car, it would have to be over 10 years.....
Ahhhh, I prefer to change oil and filter every 3,000 miles on everything I own.
....That way I can "save the planet" by making my vehicles last l;onger and they don't have to smelt 'em down and cause more pollution building new ones. (And the oil in my car gets changed every 18 months or 3,000 miles, so the oil doesn't get TOO far past the 6-months-old mark.)

well amsoil, has right on the bottle recomended oil change is 35K on the seires 2000 0w-30 motor oil.

on the bikes its 20K.

also amsoil has a thing that if any part wears out because of their oil they will pay to have that part replaced. since i started using amsoil in everything i own. i have yet to have anything break down. i have an old vw diesel that my father owned and has used amsoil in it simce new and its a 1984 jetta turbo 5spd. it has over 300K miles on it and the oil is changed every 30k with filter. it has never had an engine problem or trans problem. only the normal stuff. like ball joints, tierod ends, a-arm bushings. ECT. Also since this oil is so good I sell it too.
and im not saying its the best to make sales i say it because its true. just check out there web site and see it for your selfs.

Also if you send a sample of your oil to them with your make and modle. they can tell you whats wearing out and if your oil needs changing. i have been told a couple of time you can go another 15 or 20k before changing. now thats dam good stuff. also they beat every goverment test thrown at them. since mobile one tryed saying longer oil changes and thier oil failed most of the testing they now they say 15k miles on thier bottles wear like i stated amsoil states 35K. by law the oil has to perform to that level.

Hey speedy

This is right from the Amsoil site for the 20/50 bike oil:

SERVICE LIFE
Recommended for use up to twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval (miles/hours) or one year, whichever comes first, in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases. For Big Twin Harley-Davidson transmissions only, follow the Harley-Davidson recommended drain interval for synthetic oil of up to 20,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. When using an engine filter other than AMSOIL Ea, change the filter at standard intervals.

Yamaha recommends changing oil every 4000 miles. So twice the interval would be 8000. Not 20,000. It appears you are quoting Harley numbers for the Road star. And you did not mention that that interval only applies if you you are also using an Amsoil filter.

I have nothing against Amsoil but your statements raised some questions for me.

The reality is that the biggest gain from using synthetic oil in ANY engine is the extended drain intervals, but you should still drop and change the oil filter more often.

Re:AMSOIL 4 Years, 11 Months ago
I know that there are several schools of thought on this topic, but personally, I'm going to change the oil & filter every 4000 miles, no matter which oil I'm using.

The Road* pumps its engine oil through the transmission. This is very hard on any oil. Plus, the oil itself may be very clean and close to its original viscosity, blah, blah, blah, but what about all the particle contaminants and other flotsam getting jostled about in your crankcase? Do you really want to let that crap float around in there for a year? Do you ever wonder why folks replace their OEM drain plugs with magnetic drain plugs?

Anyway, my 2 cents.

Thanks.
