The sound clip on youtube is not bad. I don't think it really does the pipes justice though. The pipes just have a very soft & low rumble at low throttle openings (which is exactly what I was looking for) and at higher to full throttle openings it is much louder, but still a lower crisp sound. (I really like these pipes)

O.K, guys, I'm about to go nuts trying to decide what pipes for my '09 Road Star Silverado. I've been told that the V&H pipes have the best sound, fit and finish, but that they're not available for my '09 1700. I know that a lot of you guys are running aftermarket pipes on your '09 Roadies without problems. PLEASE help this old South Alabama Country boy out, and share your advice!(BTW, I'd really like to keep air and fuel at stock i.e. no power commander or such, I really like the way the bike runs now, just not loud enough, nor deep enough for me) thanx,

carpe diem, carpe lignum!

I love the way the shorties sound, and look. The only thing I don't like is the black soot they put on the swing arm. It's not that big of a deal to clean it off, but or is it that bad, but I know it's there.

Pensmith,

I had V&H Longshots on an '04 Honda Sabre that sounded good but had a timbre that killed my ears.

My '08 R* has Cobra Speedsters which are kinda like V&H Longshots but I like them better. They are bigger in diameter, have a nice rounded end and sound great.

The shortshots are cool looking but might get a bit loud.
