And I thought R* parts were expensive! 1 Year, 5 Months ago
A buddy of mine just bought a used V-Rod. He got a good deal on it. The sending unit for the fuel level is not working, though. We talked about it and I told him it cost me about $60 to replace mine. I was really shocked when he told me it would cost him right at $300........just for the sending unit! I thought what I paid for mine was a bit out of hand, but now I feel lucky .

Another thing he told me was that the ONLY place he could buy one was from the stealer.....anybody know of an outlet where he may be able to get one a little cheaper?

Check Bike Bandit. It looks like the $300 price he is getting is for the whole module W/fuel pump. Bike Bandit has the fuel level sensor for $77.55. Item 175 on the parts breakdown

Re:And I thought R* parts were expensive! 1 Year, 5 Months ago
have come across similar.

i removed the tank of a clients heritage soft tail (delph injection), disconnected the hose fitting at the tank, and as i lifted the tank the plastic elbow on the hose fitting snagged in itīs hole due to the plastic sheath being a bit rigid, and the elbow cracked.

naturally, as iīd damaged it, i replaced it.

one 5" rubber pipe with 2 plastc snap fit elbows (permenently fitted and bonded) on it cost......

65 bloody euros!!!!

sorry, but thatīs taking the piss.
