Remembering my old bikes 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I got to remembering all of the bikes that I've ever had. I remember what it felt like when I got my first really nice bike (in my estimation). It was an early 80s Kawasaki 440 LTD. I thought that bike was something. I guess it wasn't bad. It was a twin with a belt drive. 400cc back then seemed like alot more bike than it does today.

Prior to that I had some mini bikes and a Honda XL70. When I was 15 I got a Suzuki 100.

Also, in the early 80s I picked up a 76 or 78 Honda 750 four. That thing would scream. It must have been the first crotch rocket with a better seating position.

I loved all of those old bikes. Funny, I can't remember what happened to any of them. I wish I still had the Honda 750.

I also remember wanting a Yamaha 650 Maxim. I wanted one bad but couldn't afford it.

My only other bike was back in the late 70s..it was a green suzuki gt550 ..3cylinder 2-stroke..first day i got it i took the fairing and saddlebags off..the guy i bought it from flipped..i liked it much better that way, never put em back on..rode it for years, never a problem..no new tires,battery..nothing.. it had no power and sounded like s*** but it got me there every time.. now,the roadie just blows me away..this was my 1st riding season since i sold it in 1982 ..what was i missing all those years..??

To my recollection ( ) in late '80 had a Suzuki 400cc single cylinder thumper, then about '82 bought a '75 or so Honda 550 four ( orange one ),then about '88 a '77 Triumph Bonne 750 ( blk/org ), in about 2003 a '90 Venture Royale and last year May 2009 my '01 R* Silverado. Of them ,I really regret not holding onto the Bonne just to show off !!!!!

In order: 1973 Kawasaki G5 100 enduro (stolen), 1974 Honda XL 250 enduro (sold), 1967 Yamaha 305 Scrambler (project bike / given away to a friend so I could go to his house and help him work on it and try to date his sister), 1978 Honda Hawk CB 400 (traded in), 1980 Suzuki GS 750,(wrecked, rebuilt, sold) 1999 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic (sold) and current 2006 Roadstar.
I like to tell the 90-Day Wonder Harley riders that get on me about my Roadstar that I've done something they have never done: Kick start a bike!

1st bike Honda xr75 when I was about 9, Suzuki rm125 when I was 12, then a RM250...first streetbike was a 1983 v65 magna, bought with money I had earned during the summer, brand new and SCAREY fast (wish I still had it). Several Harleys, road king, heritage, sportster..and now the road star! Wonder I am still alive, espicially with the rm125 and 250, I can still remember what dirt taste like.

I had a few Honda CBs and Yamaha RD350s back in the day. That RD would flat out fly...

Just picked up this little XS650 gem a few months ago as a Bobber project. Almost hurt to tear it apart...

hmmm....

`79 got my first road bike, an S50 b1 M.Z. simson. cracking bike that i did over 6000 miles on in 1 year. bought a garelli 50 at the same time and rebuilt it and painted it and sold it for a profit.

traded it in against a new CB250na honda. lotta fun and learned about the downside to credit

swapped that for an XS500. cracked head, bought another cheap, also had a cracked head. broke them and sold for parts.

gpz500 - now that was an interesting little thing. had a hardtail frame built for it but ran out of cash so sold it as a project bike.

the following years of the late 80īs was spent running around on various communist built M.Zīs of various capacities that no-one wanted. hey! 3rd class riding is better than 1st class walking!

then came the comboīs. first a jawa 350 and sidecar that i bought with a mate, which was followed by a newer jawa 350 and lighter sidecar. took the chair off after somone vandallised it, and ran around on it for the next few years as a solo.

then came a cheap honda cb400 auto. had a lot of fun with that and sold it for what i paid for it.

i then bought an old B.M.W. r65 with about 89,000 miles on it which i stripped it down, rebuilt, and ran around on for quite some time. that bike taught me more about setting up for a corner than any bike i had ridden.

after selling that one to an ex-girlfriend, i bought a VF1000F honda for pennies, fixed it up, rode it round, then rode it down here to spain. some asshat ran me off the road on it, so i repaired the damage and sold it (the bloke who bought it stuffed it 4 months later. sad end for a good bike)

with the insurance payout and the money from the VF, i bought the lardmobile. had it over 9 years, which is the longest iīve owned a bike for, and i have no intentions what so ever of selling it or trading it. after all those years i found my perfect bike.

My 1st bike was a little Honda 70 i rode around on the farm. My 2nd was a Suzuki 400 great get around town bike when i was in College. Then a 1969 Norton 750 i got from my brother. Then my 1st Harley, 1200 sportster, rode that for many years and bought my very 1st new bike, a 1995 Heritage Softail. Traded that a year later for a Gold Wing which i rode until i traded up to my Roadstar. All of them were great rides and miss them all, But my favorite bike besides my roadie would have to be my old reliable Sportster. Started every time, looked awesome and sounded awesome.
