came home from work to see my dog having a seizure 2 Years, 5 Months ago
this was my dogs first one that i know of, and now im wondering if she has had them while im at work or was this a first time fluke thing. never the less i am worried. she is by far is my favorite dog i have had. also she is the best kid friendly dog i have ever seen. right now shes fine and laying down by my feet but i can tell she is afraid of what just happened. so i hate to do this but im calling into work (if i got to) and taking her to the vet for a good check-up. my poor friend needs me right now. this is her with my two boys older pic but my favorite one of her and my boys

I know how ya feel, took my Sadie into the vet last night, ear infection. It's amazing how tuned in we can get to our furry friends. I guess from what i hear is seizure's are common in some breeds. best of luck to you and your dog.

You're doing the right thing putting your pups welfare first! Seizures in some dogs are not uncommon and many times can be controled with medication. Let us know what the Vet says. best of luck to you both.

I don't know if you have a regular Vet that you use. If not I would recommend Wilsons Veterinary clinic. He is at Van Dyke and 17 MI. IMO he Is by far the best around the Det metro area. I live in Westland and it is a long drive for me. But his care for my girl is well worth the drive. I hope everything works out for you and the pooch.

I hope its a fluke thing for your pal. I know I dont have to tell you to keep your eyes peeled. Check on the breeds historical facts.

I had a 10 yr old Beagle that had a seizure that lasted 15 minutes. The next day he had another. I had the Vet give him a MRI and found a tumor. Expensive, but I owed it to him and it gave me peace of mind with the tough decision that followed. The last seizure had continued for 24 hours even with meds. We found stains from foaming of the mouth from prior seizures in various parts of the house.

Give her lots of love.

Sorry to hear about your pup. It is scary to see them having a seizure. One of my dogs had a seizure a few years back..I thought for sure he was dying..I wondered also if he was having them while nobody was at home, but I never saw another one after that day. Hope that is the case for yours. Good to have it checked out. As others have said here, there are good meds out there that can control them if necessary.

... we can never do enough for our 'best friends' ... hope all is good for yours

in memory of:-
Rover ... my first friend, a mutt whose loyalty far exceeded his small size
Suzy ... the most gentle German Shepherd I have ever known
Lassie ... the sookiest ever Collie anyone could ever wish to meet.
Bonnie ... my first dog after Vietnam, rejected by my parents as she was a 'bitser' (part GS part Kelpie) ... got her from a dogs home, she had been abused and would cower in a corner and wet herself, but gradually I taught her to trust ... she became a loyal friend
Yiri ... an Australian Blue Heeler, lazy but fantastically loyal ... killed by a speeding car
Pundi ... an Australian Blue Heeler ... a tough li'l' critter, who had many 'adventures' ... but was always at my side, especially when it mattered
