4 qts Modile 1 $40 Mobile one filter $14 sales tax $4.32 Total $58.32. I see no need in using Premium oil and a cheap filter. As far as extended drain intervals... I think all oil gets dirty. I only put around 3K miles per year, I will not go more than one year on an oil change. I would rather use a good MC dino oil and a super tek filter and change in 3 or 4 k miles. That way I can use 10w40 in winter and 20w50 in the summer all for around $40.00

You only put on about 3k per year? I live in the cold frozen north and I put on almost 3 times that.

Good point Tommy. I believe the maintenance schelude says every 4000 miles or every 6 months.

Ahhh the oil debate.did synthetic for two years, changed oil every 12 months no matter what the miles i had run up in that time.currently running valvoline dino v-twin motor oil, will change right before i leave for the june 10-12 meet and greet.... thinking mobile 1 for this years change.my bike runs great and has for the last four years when i bought it. i'll check the plugs also since i haven't in 4 years...the bike runs to good to go messing with valve adjustments and plugs and carb adjustments.........NOT GOING TO FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKE...my $.02

There's a thread on here about used oil filters. Same thread, this person takes them apart and you can see what the filter actually does. . .the WalMart filter, to me, looked great. . .and I heard somewhere that they are made by WIX. BUT if you're only putting 3K on it a year then I agree with you. Just go out and have fun.

If you think about it. . . when the subject line of these threads have OIL in them, you'll get everyone's opinions, and opinions are like belly buttons. . .some are innies, some are outties but they all collect lint.

I think the Wally*World Super Tech filters are made for them by Champion, and they are a very good quality filter, especially for under $3!

I sat one Sunday evening & read about oil for 6 hrs. In the end I believe that petroleum based oil is more that capable of doing the job.
I just can't justify the price of synthetics.

Re:Re Thinking my oil 1 Year, 4 Months ago
with over $9,000 invested in my bike i cant see running cheap-ass oil in it..the mobil 1 v-twin quiets the motor down and will not break down under the intense heat that these big motors produce .. to each his own .. imho...
