Russell Day-Long Seats 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I have the Mustang seats, but I am not 100% satisfied with them. My wife and I cannot seem to break the 1 hour barrier of non-stop riding. I was wondering if anyone has the Russell Day-Long seats installed on their Roadie and, if so, what was their impression of these seats.

Thanks!

SMOOTH, I've posted questions about Day Long several times here and it doesn't seem that anyone has one. I have called Russell, talked to Heather, answered all my questions, sent me vinyl samples for color. Just need to come up with the money at this point. They are booked till September so it gives me a little time but I need to order soon. I did a LOT of research on them, read a lot of reviews from riders. Seems they are very popular with the BMW crowd. I'd say 99% of the reviews were good, the biggest complaint was the looks, but even those people liked the comfort.
There are 2 big reasons I like them at this point. They use your pan so their seat will be roughly the same width. I sat on a Mustang last weekend. It felt ok, but did feel narrow after the stock for 10k. I like the width of the stock. The 2nd reason is the guarantee. 1 year or your money back!!!! They ask that you give them 2 trys to adjust it for you in that time, seems only fair. Could lose a bit of shipping money but better than selling it on Ebay if I don't like it. For both seats, drivers back rest, re-cover passenger back rest(all two tone), studs on all, removable purse(not an option according to my wife!) will run $940.00. Bit pricey but not out of sight. A Corbin with two back rests is over 1k, Ultimate is in the mid 800 range, neither gives this guarantee. I'll wait till their start time is closer to Xmas and maybe this will be my companies gift to me. Last year was the Doolies.

Thanks for the quick reply. I like many things about the Russell Seats such as they build based on your weight, inseam and riding posture as well as the warranty that you mentioned. I am not too fond of the driver's backrest that is shown on their website and I prefer the streamlined looks of the one that you have on your bike. I regret not buying a driver's backrest when I ordered the Mustang Seat, but I was concerned that it would move me too far forward. I wonder if a backrest like yours would be compatible with the mounting hardware from the Russell seat driver backrest.

Post edited by: Smooth, at: 2007/08/01 13:56

After 4 back surgeries a drivers back rest is not an option!! This is the first time I've had one and it makes a HUGH difference in comfort and support. If I would have had one before maybe I could have skipped a surgery or 2.
I do like the look of mine better and was thinking of asking if they could recover it and use it with their bracket. Actually, I'm not overly thrilled with the look of the whole thing, however it's not horrible and if it lives up to it's claims my butt will be smiling, more importantly my wifes butt be smilin', which means I be smilin', and it would then be beautiful!!!

I haven't road on one but they look like they lift you up. Might be like seting on a cloud but you may be looking down on the bike.

My 1 cent Canadian worth(almost par)
