My cousin had his... ahem...episode at 48 yrs. old riding his brand new first ride Heritage Softail. Now Tony is one tough bastard because they found him laying in the middle of the right hsnd lane on the Pa. Turnpike. The bike was somehow parked sideways on the shoulder with the kickstand down totally intact. So he makes sure the bike is safe then collapses in the middle of the turnpike. Now I know Harley's must be exciting and all but.....Now check this out. Tony is a construction supervisor on the turnpike and some of his crew were the one's that found him coincidentally. He says he remembers riding along then something like a hard rubber ball hitting him in the chest and throat. Then he became a little disoriented and remembers starting to pull over but the light's went out...literally. The next he knew he was in intensive care unit and thought it was a dream and is asking anyone who would listen where his bike was. T-O-U-G-H. Maybe there is something mystical about Harley's.

Good luck with your recovery.

Went through all this with my old man multiple times including QUINTUPLE by pass, stents etc. Here is the reality...its diet, exercise, weight, lifestyle and genetics. Knowing that I have spent most of my life trying not to do what he did. I have worked out 4-5 days a week for decades, eat very healthy, yearly physicals, don't smoke (well unless someone rolls them ). No its not boring just different and you have to work at it.

he got the message too late but I distinctly remember his room mate the first time he wen tin at 65. the guy was 40, in there with his second go around with getting bypasses. After first time he changed nothing, did nothing and was going back through it at 40! My old man looked at him and said to him "are you f***ing stupid or what?" My dad changed everything he could and extended his life because of it.

Just went through a battery of test and at 63 all seams well. Dont know how since I smoke to much and drink to much. Problem I have now is that laying on my back with arms twisted up and neck turn to work on stuff I get real dissy, kind of like your are drunk. This worrines me some. Maybe pinch nerve in neck. Any way i am glad you are OK now. Take care. Bofish

I just got out of the hospital two weeks ago; had a heart attack, ended up in the emergency room and within 30 minutes I was on the table in the Heart Cath room getting a blood clot removed from one of seven stents I already have, and a balloon angioplasty with a new stent. Went home two days later only to have another attack and return. Stayed three days and released. Have to get another blockage reamed with new stent soon. All this after a five way bypass in '96.

That is what smoking for twenty years and eating lot's of junk will do for your heart. Quit smoking! Eat right!

Knocking on wood, I haven't had one, but it's in the family. Brother died 3 years ago at 58 (I'm 52) Two sisters have had heart attacks before they were 60, Mom died at 72 from Heart attack, dad had open heart surgery 3 times (didn't have stents back then). So Scootergirl and I are very familiar with the risks.

We eat pretty good, but still enjoy some not so good foods, just not as often. We work out, could be more often. I quit smoking after 29 years and haven't had one now in 12 years, had my lungs checked, they are clear and healthy now. We quit drinking coffee (daily) back in November 2010, but still have one on occasion. (surprised, I thought I would miss it more, but I don't).

Glad to hear your back and doing better, hope you make some good life changes. I hear a single shot of Rye Whiskey every morning is supposed to be good for your blood and it helps get everything moving. If not, what the hell, it's good!
