I must agree with Kaisayson about the Sadona AZ area. Hwy 89 between Flagstaff and Prescott is hard to beat. I really like the little mining town of Jerome on 89A too. Also recommend Bridgeport, California the Eastern High Sierras are truly a sight to see.

After much consideration we have decided and booked the following:

* Arrive LA
* 3 days at Newport Beach
* Train Anaheim to San Francisco - 3 nights there including city sights and tour to Yosemite
* Flight San Francisco - Seattle - Victoria - 2 nights in Victoria - tour City Sights and Butchart Gardens - transfer to Vancouver
* 2 nights Vancouver
* Rocky Mountaineer (gold leaf) - Vancouver to Jasper
* 2 nights Jasper Maligne Lodge
* Hire car Jasper to Banff - 2 nights at Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa - Drive to Calgary
* Flight Calgary - Minneapolis - Green Bay
* Sights of Green Bay / Wisconsin / Illinois
* RSC Meet'n'Greet at Beloit
* Travel home via Chicago connection Dallas to Brisbane

We have a arranged a house sitter while we are away so should be a relaxing, although full-on trip.

We're looking forward to meeting as many of you good folk as possible and really appreciate the advice and hospitality offered by so many of you.

Kind regards
Darryl (aka Emu) and Mandy

BTW.... Mandy has already suggested we should return to US as there is so much we would love to see but really don't have time for in this trip.

While visiting San Franciso, some great places to visit are the town of Sausilito: a ferry ride north across the San Francisco bay, Alcatraz Island: the old prison in the bay, Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 with hundreds of sea lions and tourists, North Beach for great Italian food, Chinatown culture and chinese food, Haight Ashbury: home of the original 60's hippies and many rock bands. We took the city bus trip a few years back which was a 4 hour trip and really showed you the city. Enjoy.
