I got my Roadhouse Dooleys and installed them Sunday on my 2004 Silverado. They were packaged very nicely, everything was individually wrapped in plastic, tissue, and bubblewrap. Very impressed with the packing. Man, there are a lot of parts, two header pipes, y-collector, crossover, two mufflers, and four heatshields, all attached with about a dozen hose clamps. Installation was a pain, I hate hose clamps! About 8 hours had passed by the time I finished, about three times longer than it took me to install my HK's. Despite being incredibly tedious, installation went fairly smoothly except the left-side muffler bracket holes did not line up perfectly on my bike. I had to get the Dremel out and slighly enlarge two of the holes to bolt it up. Lost over an hour on that.
After a lot of sweat and a few cuss words however, the pipes were on and everything lined up really well on the first try. I was a little confused that in spite of all the hose clamps, the Y-collector itself just slid over the two header pipes and was not clamped on except by the rear muffler clamp. Pretty snug fit but seemed like an exhaust leak waiting to happen. But I didn't have any exhaust sealer so forged ahead and haven't notice any backfiring from it. Curious if others ran into problems with this.
Overall, the pipes are just gorgeous and I love the sound. It was definitely the look I was after. Soundwise, a little louder than Stage 3 but nice deep rumble, a little quieter than my HK Res-Techs. I'll wait and see if they get a little louder as the baffles burn in, otherwise I may play around with that.
Jetting, I'm running
BAK airkit and jet kit, 170
main, needle at 4th clip with spacer, washer, and about 3.25 turns out on
PMS. Running pretty good but might try 172.5 main, that's what I was using with HK's and bike seemed to run it's best then. Curious what others are jetted at with Dooleys and similar air kit.
I just need to update my signature picture now!
