+1 with Curt. Engine is much quieter on AMSOIL vs. Mobil 1

Mobil 1 V Twin since the second change. First one was Yamalube, but soon learned better.

thanks everyone for the input . I could not believe that the squealing noise during engine braking could've come from the drive belt, but I did what you suggested and adjusted the drive belt and the noise went away. It sure sounded as if it came from the front cylinder thank you everyone for your advice. It worked

See all the good things that happen once you get the starter jetted properly and the windscreen lubed

I am doing my first oil change this weekend and I purchase (reccomended by my local Yamaha Dealership - Irwins in Cornwall) Yamalube 20w50 (and of couse a factory filter and crush ring).

In the past I have always used semi-synthetic on bikes with a wet clutch and shared transmission so I was a bit reluctant to buy dino oil - what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks

=========================

I run mobile 1 syn v-twin 20w-50 avail in most stores on my 06 silverado and friends 05 silverado too.

I am surprised Curts bike motor sounded like a bucket bolts with the Mobile 1 v-twin 20-50 syn in it,my exp has been on hot 90+ deg days both mine and my friends motors run smooth and quiet with little to no valvetrain noise on hot days we ride together.

Curt sure knows these bike motors well and if he said thats what happened with his bikes motor i believe it ,just surprised it happend with the Mobil 1 v-twin 20-50 oil.

I dont know that happened unless maybe Modil had issues with quality control on a bath/lotch of oil that that Curt got a hold of that would not hold grade/viscoisty for some rearon thining out when heated up making for more valvtrain/general engine noise.

Or possibly wrong / much thinner grade oil was put in 20-50 mobile 1 containers at botteling facility like putting 5-30 in 20-50 containers which could esily cause the issue Curt had dont that what happended in his case,thats for sure.

Amsoil did an extensive test on 17 dif bikes oils and the Amsoil MCV & Moibil 1 v-twin both syn 20-50 came out 1 and 2 respectively when test results were in woth the Mobil comming in a close 2nd to the amsoil,you can chk out that oil test on amsloil's website.

The Mobil is generally slightly less expensive then Amsoil,can be found on sale($8 qt) more often,and is much eaiser to get/more avail then the Amsoil though Amsoil is a very good hi quality oil,no doubt about that.

I took my bike on 600 mile round trip in 90 deg temps last yr with that Mobile oil in it,all 5 bags were fully loaded/wife on back/windscreen in upper position for more protection from wind but also making for more wind resistance load on motor too/and smaller 31T pulley that makes motor turn slightly more rpm at cruise and motor was happy/quiet/with no additonal noises from valvetrain etc i could hear cruising at 70-74mph most of the time qwith the Mobile 1 v-twin.

Bike avg'd approx 41-42mpg crusing on the trip with sig headwind and climbing a few mountains which i thought was good mpg esp considering i was cruing at 70-72 mph with 31t pulley turing more rpm/lrg wind screen in upper position with sig head winds at times /riding 2 up/bikes 5 bags were fully loaded,etc.
