Crap quality Yamaha Speedstar exhaust 1 Year, 6 Months ago
I tell ya, I've had nothing but bad luck with this exhaust system from Yamaha... . The first system just wouldn't bolt up properly and now the second system has lost the rivets that hold the baffles in place causing a rattle at certain rpms . Talked to the local Yamaha dealership that I purchaced the crap from and to my luck, the Yami reps were there again. The tech I know in the service dept told me last week they tried to install a Speedstar longshot pipe on another bike and it also won't line up. At least I (and the Yami reps) know it's not just me. They said that the dealer will order a fresh new set today after talking to the supplier about their quality control issues...maybe 3 times is a charm

Wish you 3rd time lucky.

That's odd as the other Yamaha accs. that I have all seem to be of high quality.

Must be Made in China.

I'd like to say that it's "Made in China", but it says Made in USA maybe the rivets were made in China

My long pipes didn't line up either. The dealer replaced them right away and they bolted up just fine. Next is is the Speedstar air filter & jet kit. I hope it goes well-might be seeking advice here.

Yamaha is aware of a quality control issue and says that the issue will be resolved. Supplier is making a fresh set for me now

Re:Crap quality Yamaha Speedstar exhaust 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Update on an almost 2 month old post...Yamaha recalled the Speedstar Longshots and the replacement is backorder at least 4 weeks, so the dealer gave me a refund and replace the exhaust with V & H Longshot HS. Sounds much nicer, a little louder and runs better . The down side is that the rear header blocks access to the transfer box fill and level check caps ...not impossible to reach but tight.
