Hey guys just thought I would say hello. I heard about your website through a friend and decided to join the forum. Nice to see so many people appreciate the Road Star as much as I do. Just bought it on July 3rd while I was off on vacation and already racked up 2200 miles. This is the first bike I've ever owned and I definitely need a good source of information. I would definitely like to know what I can do about the pain I experience after about 60 miles in a very sensitive spot lol. Seats a bit rough at that distance. Also does anyone know why they stopped putting the studs on the new seats? Thank you for a great site and I look forward to reading many more posts. Best regards, Nick Fleming

Welcome to the Clinic Nick

Yeah. The stock seat seems to make lots of friends Do a search for seats and you will get lots of ideas. Don't know why they aren't putting studs on. The mind of Yamaha works in mysterious ways.

Hello liquidedege, welcome to the clinic, and congrats on your new bike.
As for your deriair there are several after market seats out there that are good. I personally have a mustang seat with back rest. others have the ultimate which is also a good seat. The choice is yours. What ever fits your height and weight.Good luck.

Welcome to the Clinic , Nick.

Seats are very subjective, many like Mustang, Corbin, and Ultimate. Get your credit card out! I believe the studded seats come on the Midnight/Silverado models, base models (like Mine) are standard black. If you want Studs, many times they are available on e-bay fairly cheap, and sometimes folks on here have them for sale. BB

Welcome Nick! I just ordered an Ultimate seat with backrest. I also found that after only a couple hundred miles my back AND backside weren't going to get along with the stocker. You will get all kinds of opinions, and like it's been said, it will really come down to personal choice.

By the way, I was wonderin' who took off with my bike....

Papatom, they do look kinda familiar Welcome liquid, Yami told me that studs are only on the midnite's now also. But that was last month, they could change thier mind again tomorrow. Have fun with the bike.

Welcome to the clinic!
I was just looking to see if I still had my seat from my midnight
but I think the husband sold it. I will check with him and if he didn't
I am sure he would let it go for next to nothing.
I personally like the Yamaha Stinger seat but as they have already said
you will get lots of opinions.

Welcome to the clinic...

Unfortunately soft and cushy seats have showroom appeal and are the best at getting the bike out the door

But the shock of rough roads goes right thru to yer tailbone on these seats

So firm is good..as found in some aftermarket seats

as well.. your height and weight determine where ON the stock seat you will sit so the stocker fits many heights better...again showroom appeal

If you find a seat that you sit IN it may favour shorter guys as it pushes you slightly more forward..

GOOD LUCK....

Welcome to the Clinic. I can only speak from my experience. A back rest solved my Butt problems I still run the stock seat, well some say I am still a major pain it the arse..

Enjoy the ride, call the credit card companies and raise your limits, you will always be adding and upgrading..
