Somebody Is In Need Of A Big Ole' Hug... 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
And, that somebody is Coot (Dan)...

If you guys remember last week I was hunting for spacers to line up the rear on the hardtail XS650 Bobber I'm building. Searched and searched for just the right ones without much luck. Coot PM's me and offers to make me what I'm looking for. Guess what I get in the mail today? Exactly what I needed. And, I had no luck trying to pay him for them.

I just wanted to say that it's stuff like this that makes me really proud to be a Member here at the Clinic. We've got some of the best guys around.

So, now the front and the rear ends are done on the Bobber. Now I can start working on the seat mounts, tank, fender, etc (the fun stuff). A couple of photos below if anybody is interested in following along with the build.

Thanks again Dan. You're the best!

Rich

I'm getting a little worried about Rich. Kissing football players; hugging "old" bikers....

I love how clean you got that motor and how polished the side covers and tappet covers are. I am a big fan of the xs650's and have one that I've been working on. Mine is a '79 and I'm getting ready to tear down my spare motor to build up and switch out.

Thanks, guys. I'm starting to get back into it. That motor took all Spring to go through and clean up... Still a lot to do.

I'm thinking about doing a color scheme around this.

You know there's going to be apes, too. Right?

Jon: Mine is a 79 also.

Not in the livingroom. That would be weird... It's in the basement. Still haven't figured out how I'm getting it out of there, though...

Carry it out with a friend before you insert the motor.... Just a thought. You will have to build up then disassemble anyway to get the tank, seat, and fenders fitted before painting or powdercoating the frame

Yep. It's on a dolly. I can probably just take off the front suspension and wheel it out the door. I promised my lower back I wouldn't try to move that motor too much more...

I still have to weld on the kickstand bracket, seat mounts, rear fender bungs, brake spring tab, brake light switch tab, etc.. Once it's together, I'll take it all back apart and paint everything. Like I said, a lot more to do. But, it's fun...
