Guess I really screwed up, then.

Two weeks ago, on my way to the beach, I was riding out US74 East on the Future I-74 in the Luarenburg/Lumberton (NC) area. I was rolling along at about 75-80 mph with my daughter following in her car. (Speed limit is 70 along that stretch.)

Anyway, at one point I noticed 7-8 riders up ahead. As I approached, I noticed that they were all patched. I did not recognize the club, nor do I remember it now. But it was a three-patch cut.

Well, I just continued along at my same pace, they were doing about 10 mph slower. As I passed, I did wave at each rider, but did not get a wave back. Or at least I did not see one.

To those of you in the three-patch world, did I offend?

i personally can not see how passing someone preventing your right to travel could BE disrespectful.

I don't believe it is disrespectful to pass anyone as long as it is safe to do so.
I think it is more a code among people that ride bikes, like there is a code among
other things that people take up in their lives.
I was taught to be respectful from my parents,my father had a code to live by
if some believe the code is dead so be it,that is their choice.

Yeah I laugh to myself when that happens to me...Yeah I'm 6'4, ride w/ dark sunglasses on & ride a gangstered out roadie, look a little like a thug....but definitely not a "menace"...have two little girls @ home, a mortgage & make a pretty decent living... I always wave to the little kids in the cars & the parent look kinda freaked out!

Funny you should mention it. Yesterday while trying to make my way out of wine country, there was a bumper to bumper back up about 5 miles long. Fortunately, lane splitting is legal here in Calif and people tend to be accommodating if you're not a jackass about it.

So here I am parting the Red Seas like Moses, when about 10 bikes come up from behind in my wake. They were a bunch of crotch rockets which tend to be a little more aggressive when it comes to lane splitting. So I gave way and much to my surprise, they were *all* a bunch of girls, in full leathers, zipping in between the cars.

Personally, there's something fine about a woman who rides ...but in this case, I don't think they liked boys... However, they were all gracious and gave a wave as they passed.

Yea, something VERY sexy about a girl on a bike. Especially a big v-twin cruiser!
