I'd guess it's a 650, my experience on CL has been that the 650s don't draw the traffic/inquiries that the 1100s do. The 1100 is simply compensation in some peoples eyes, so some people don't put in the engine displacement hoping that someone will come see it thinking it's bigger and will buy it anyway.

Edit: I didn't even notice they call it a Road* in the ad. Either a blatant lie or an idiot

It is a 1100. It has mag wheels, which the 650's only ever had spokes. It also has a 5 inch speedo, which the 650 has a 3 inch. The mirrors also have a different shape.

You were right: the 650's have a rear drum, and a single front disc. The 1100's have the dual front brakes, but you can't really tell in their pic.

Yup it sucks. I'm guilty of that. I once had several boxes and in those boxes was a 1903 Excelsior moyorcycle. It needed to be put back together and I think a few parts were missing.

Anyway a friend of a friend of a guy I know offered me a 100 bucks for it. I said sure take it and good luck. A few years goes by and I here through the grape vine that the bike was sold to none other than Jay Leno. I was told he payed quite a bit of money for it.

Yep I sure wish I new what I had, but at the time it was just a bunch of junk that I was never going to get around to putting back together. My lose.

that bike is an 1100. the easiest way to tell them apart is if you can see the air cleaner. the 1100 air cleaner lid has a flat center while the 650 does not. on the other side of the motor, you can tell by the position of the air pump. on the 650 the air pump is at the front of the motor while on the 1100 the air pump is under the right side cover of the motor. i'm a parts manager at a yamaha dealership, i stair at these things all day

Yep, also... (cant see on this pic but) at a glance the 650 has a real small speedometer compared to the 1100 .

Why is it that the "idiot" never makes the mistake the wrong way? I think you will often find the "idiot" is actually trying to find another "idiot" to buy what he is selling.

You never see someone selling a road star and calling it a v-star 650 do you? and asking v-star 650 price? Never.

Got to give them a little slack. Either they're a newbie to the 2 wheel world or they're dyslexic. Idiots, in my book, are the one's who can't use a cell phone and drive at the same time. "OMG, I thnk I jst hit a mc. Bstd made me dele a msg. Asshl's."
