Rumors about Colorado laws 4 Years, 8 Months ago
There is a rumor going around that Colorado police have been giving out tickets to riders with aftermarket exhaust pipes. Can anyone verify that this is happening? I was thinking about riding there but I'm not changing my pipes back to the stock ones.

The new law has not been in effect very long, and as I understand it it's not a state law. I know it's Denver and Colorado Springs, possibly a few other towns. No one I know has been cited. From what I hear they will bust you if your being obnoxious with your pipes,ie-residential areas, public gatherings.... It gives them a legal reason to mess with you. However, If you skip Colorado because of this you will be missing some of the finest riding in the USA.

I was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado. Skiing was great.

However, it's one or the other. Not going to be able to ride to the lifts. Not much mountain riding during ski season.
I drive by Fort Carson all the time. Have some land near Westcliffe in Custer County.

I lived just east of Durango for awhile and that was the area I was considering. Why I left for western Oklahoma I'll never know.

I currently live in the Springs and have been puled over but wasn't cited since my Bikes tag is out of WY, they wanted to use the dB meter but it was across town. I do have strainers in my 3" HK's, helps keep it quiet at idle, but I don't get on it hard unless I'm out of town, a long way out of town.

Draconian laws are ruining it for every one, that and the Jack*** who cracks open his bike at midnight in a residential area. I heard Bikes Blues and BBQ in Arkansas has pretty strict noise law inforcement this year. Several friends there and all have seen someone pulled over this weekend.
