Re:Shoulder issues.... 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hate to hear about your shoulder. I just went through that. Mine was completely torn also. I went 6 weeks after surgery not allowed to move it. Then 8 weeks of theropy with the theropist moving it to get rotation of movement back. Then 8 weeks of light weight (5 lbs. max) exersize. From talking to others it just depends on the type and severity of the injury. I was taking short rides after 4 months. Hope you have a quick recover.

Thanks, I hope they'll let me ride quicker than 4 months, but I'll take it one day at a time. I appreciate the response.

Re:Shoulder issues.... 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Tore my right rotator cuff 8 years ago before I bought the *. I drove a delivery truck for Wonder Bread and it took a good ten months for a full recovery. Had the surgery in Oct. and was able to play fall softball the following year. Still couldn't throw overhand but I was able to pitch and bat. I now have a torn left rotator cuff that I hurt while working out and will probably have surgery in Nov. Can't even do the two finger wave with the arm extended!

I've had both shoulders done - arthroscopic. The left was 14 years ago and the right was last year.

My right shoulder still has pain, discomfort, and limited range but I am riding. I was riding again in 6 months. The key for me was waiting until I could safely maneuver, support the weight, and ride comfortably. You'll also want to be able to push the bike comfortably if need be (parking, etc.).

While you're off it will give you some time to plan mods, maintenance, and do a little deep cleaning to rehab your shoulder

Re:Shoulder issues.... 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I've had both of my shoulders fixed. A torn rotator on my left shoulder about 14 years ago, and a slap lesion repair (tore the damn socket away from the bone and popped all but three strands of my bicep tendon. Recovery time on the rotator was quicker (but I was also younger). I really worked hard at the physical therapy and was back playing sports after 4 1/2 months and have great range of motion and no pain. The right shoulder took a little longer but does fine with only a little aching during damp weather. I think the trick is to really work at getting it back to normal after the surgery. People who are diligent about PT and related exercise always seem to do better. All in all both shoulders work just fine now and the recovery was longer than I wanted but not terrible. Hang in there and best of luck!

I had my right shoulder scoped last year for a torn tendon, cartilage damage and spurs. Was able to do limited riding after about 3 weeks. Unfortunately, another spur cropped up about 6 months later and and to go through it again. At least is was winter for that one.

I still have issues with weather changes and cold but it's nothing some pain meds can't help.
