Floor Board Bolt Size 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Can anyone tell me the size of the bolts that mount the floor boards to the frame? They look like Allen wrench bolts, and I thought I have every metric size even close, but I swear nothing goes in and fits snugly,

Thanks

I hate to disagree with Flashback but, assuming you are referring to the floorboard-mount to frame, button-head bolts, here's what they are:

M10 x 1.25 (fine pitch) x 30mm (length).

You're probably trying to fit a course-thread bolt in there. I got some replacement ones (with socket hex-heads) at a local auto parts store. It's a little trickier getting a socket on the bolt, because of the brake-mount (right-side).

I replaced mine on the right-side because I needed ones a bit longer. I was adding some spacers to better clear my Rinehart pipes.

Hope this helps.

Actually, Flashback, I was asking about the wrench size; I just didn't say it well. Funny, because the 6mm Allen wrench just doesn't seem to fit snugly. Concerned about rounding it out, you know.

Sorry, Earl. I misunderstood.

Yep, Flashback is right. Go ahead and use a 6mm wrench. Just be sure you're using a wrench that's not worn.

They do fit a bit loose, but you MUST be sure and completely get that wrench to the very bottom of the bolt-hole. I can't tell you how many times I've had mine on/off.

I usually loosen the bolt a little, then counter-turn the wrench a little, so as to make the wrench snap loose from the bolt-hole. Then I finish unscrewing the bolt.

I've been surprised that mine haven't stripped out long ago. Anyhow, if you ever do, you've got the bolt-size info now.

Hope this helps.

If your taking them off for the first time it might help to have some heat to melt the loctite.

Those ball tip wrenches are a great invention but be very careful. my set has a normal end on the short leg and i use it to break the bolt loose then use the ball end..
