Hey Chief, I am interested in trying one. I don't want to waste anybody's time, but if I didn't like it I would want to send it back.

I like a wide seat with a back rest. Ok if I PM you?

Please do River. Do you want the big touring seat the standard or the lowrider? Also backrest options include a backrest built into the pass seat, or you can order a back rest that mounts under rider seat that can be used with your current pass seat on. or if you purhase the low rider seat it has a optional detachable backrest. One more thing I will add is that the backrest George makes are stellar the cushioning adjustability and cofort are leaps and bounds above any other.

My 2 cents:

I bought an Ultimate seat with backrest and it is worth it.

All day comfort.

I think I would want the big touring seat with a built in backrest in the driver seat.

What has held me back from trying one of these seats is confusion over the back rest. The back rest to me is just as important as the seat itself.

The reason I bought the Mustang was the backrest and lower seat.

I went on Dody's website and his web site absolutely sucks big time, so I couldn't get a clear picture of exactly what I would be ordering.

Is that the big touring seat with the built in driver back rest mounted on your bike?

You are right the ultimate is a great seat. What you may not know unless you have followed the threads in regards to the E.d. Seat company, is that George the owner of E.D. is the master seamstress and designer who made the very seat you own. He worked for Ultimate for some time, then expanded his horizons toward his own company so as to put all his effort into making his designs better than the rest. He has done this by staying in tune with the customer and taking advice and applying it to his art. The result is what you see today in the E.D, Seat company, a company I hope will be around for a long time helping others to enjoy what we so much love to do, that is to ride.

I could not agree more the backrest is a key element to a long and comfortable ride, which I found out last summer when I did a 4000 mile trip. The seat I used was the big touring which does not have the built in backrest because it gives you more legroom than the other offerings which is why he makes the backrest into the pass seat, however he does offer a backrest that can mount under the rider seat if a rider would want to ride solo with or without the pass pillion attached. He does have the low rider seat which has the spot for the detachable backrest to slip into which is very similar to what you have now but with way more comfort and more adjustable. Here is the top view of the low rider seat on my bike:

As can be seen in order for the detachable backrest to work correctly it needs room for the bracket to slide down into the seat. The big touring goes back further and is sloped different in order to give the rider more room, which is why you could get a backrest from him that mounts under the seat or behind it which is what I chose to do when ordering the pass seat with built in backrest for the rider. I hope this helps answer your questions.

Thanks for the pics with the seat mounted on the bike, now I have something to think about, a big touring may not be the way I would need to go after all.
