Cleaning Spokes 4 Months, 1 Week ago
OK, I just started a new job, I work at a Car Wash & Detail shop. I had to share this with everyone because I know how hard it is (or has been) to clean those dang spokes on our bikes. Here is a Link to a product that you will love on your spokes and even on your automotive rims (just not toyota or lexus... those for some reason turn black with this product).

I've used it on mine, just dilute 1:1 spray on spokes, brush the really bad spots if needed with any stiff bristle brush and rinse. Cleans them like nothing else. If you have a pressure washer or access to one of those "Do it yourself" car wash's that you spray your car with the pressure washer, go there and put in $1 in quarters. Spray this on, let it set for 30 seconds to a minute and rinse completely.

Probably not going to help those, but they sure made mine look really nice after just one application. I have 17K on mine and have never been able to get the rear this clean, even the center hub looks good again.

What are you doing? Looking to cleanup your Roadie and trade it in for a 113CI 'Liner?

It makes the rust look real pretty and sparkly. Yeah, it's still there, but it's clean rust now.

Roadstar spokes are cadmium plated & it's very easy to strip or scrub it off if you're not careful.
They aren't supposed to be shiny unless you replace them with chrome.
I've seen a lot of blackened spokes (not pretty back, nasty black) on customer's bikes that were aggressively 'cleaned'.

hopefully! depends on what my lawyer can get for me from my accident a few months back. Rear ended, car totaled, and both my shoulders have issues, but can still ride. Just glad I was in the car, was a great day to ride, but bike was in shop getting stator, other wise who knows if I would be riding, ever.

I spent more than a few years dealing with chrome wires on British cars. Brake dust and road grim are tough.
I tried a few acid based cleaners (I spent 18 years as a GM Service Manager in a previous career)but they tended to damage chrome wires fairly easily. If the R* wheel spokes are cadmium and not chrome I thing they might be even easier to dull. But the rims themselves might come out well.
