Tire Pressure and Tire Wear 4 Years, 7 Months ago
For all you tire experts out there:

When I got my rear tire replaced with the ME880, the guy who mounted and balanced it at the shop inflated it to 37 psi. It's rated for 41 psi.

Will the 4 lbs difference have any appreciable effect at all on tire wear?

Is it likley that being slightly under-inflated could make the tail end a little sloppy in tight cornering?

Thanks

Leave it at 37 if riding solo. 41 psi if over 295 lbs.

I run mine at 36 lbs and have no problems around corners...

the owners manual for the 1700 says 41 psi if over 198 lbs on the rear and 36psi on the front

36 psi on the rear if under 198lb

Mine is between 35 and 40.

I can tell when it is low as at highway speed the bike is a bike squirrelly when I run over the parallel tar lines.

I come in at 250, so I'm thinking I'd like to add the other 4 psi.

I'm around 270, give or take, and have mine at 40 psi. Seems to ride just fine for me, Earl.

I would prefer to have mine a tad over-inflated, then watch the tire wear pattern to adjust from there.
An under-inflated tire can start some bad wear patterns and damage the edges of the tread (cornering tread) before you catch it.
I run mine at 39 to 40 unless riding two up or lots of luggage.
