A helmet isn't going to do much good on high speed wrecks, but a slow or stopped tip over it can save your life, even the non-DOT ones. My uncle fell out of a golf cart and bumped his head, finished the round of golf, felt weird at dinner, dizzy later, goes to hospital, gets put on life support and was kept alive long enough for his daughter to make it down to say goodbye.
